Do NOT Pay For This $20 million Lesson

Did ya know that Eben Pagan is currently doing a Pre-Launch for one of his IM products?

But don’t get your knickers in a twist, ‘cos I’m NOT about to promote any Guru Launch. πŸ˜›

What I’m about to tell ya, though… is that Eben earns $20 million a year from just his DoubleYourDating (DYD) site.

Hmm… and how exactly did you work out that he earns that much?

Well… that’s what he claimed in the first Pre-launch video.  Would you rather I said he earns $2 million every year?

Anyway, I learnt a MASSIVE MARKETING lesson worth every bit of that $20 2 million from navigating the DYD site, and I wonder if you’ll find the site as revealing as I did.

So why don’t you head over there – spend 5-10 minutes or so navigating it, and come back and tell me what marketing lesson(s) you learnt.  And tomorrow, I’ll tell you what the $20 2 million marketing lesson that I learnt is.

Do we have us a deal?

Sounds like a fair deal to me.

You da man! And me da wizard. πŸ˜‰

Here’s the DYD site: http://addictivetext.com/blog/click/DYD/

Keep smiling,

Oz.

P.S. Please, this ain’t about dating lessons… although maybe it should be. πŸ˜›

P.S. And the link to DYD is CERTAINLY NOT an affiliate link. πŸ˜›

    Oz,
It's a simple site, well laid out. Pics of good looking women, no ads.  He makes his money by selling his own products, builds list with his freebies.  Use of video seems to be a 'must' have.  He has great presentation and presence…but is it an actor? And he address a need 'how can I attract women'

That’s actually Eben, as far as I know. :)

So what’s the lesson you learnt? That use of video is a must? What’s gonna happen to poor sods like me that don’t know their VHS from their Betamax? :(

  2. The first thing you do is call yourself Eban Pagan and not David DeAngelo when you can verify who's in the video off the internet.

xxx Sorry, this was filed under Spam and I saw it several days later. :(

It's a nice site with lots of pictures of good-looking women (sex sells – who knew!). There are a lot of articles with useful info to keep visitors on the site longer, and have repeat exposure to the appealing images on the site. By that time they'll sign onto any program.

  5. The site is basic it is filling a need/want/desire and he has repetitive direct call to action. The niche doesn't hurt and neither does the PR4
What ever it is I know I am not doing it based on my $20/month Amazon and eBay payouts.

Already a step ahead of you! hehe…been digging into his site for several months now in anticipation of the launch of my niche dating site. Figured Eben knows what he's doing and might just be in my best interest to spy on his methods!!! On the surface the site doesn't jump out at you, however there is some gold in his methods. Digging deeper into his source code and utilizing some online demographic and targeting tools has certainly helped me get a better idea about his methods!

    You clever man!

Everyone will do well to go over DYD witha fine tooth comb… whether you are in the dating/relationship niche or not.

Note of warning to anyone that visits that site: the site is quite extensive with loads of juicy posts, and you can easily waste an entire week lapping up all the allegations and comments. I wasted an entire Sunday not that long ago, and I did not find it funny :( … although I must confess I couldn’t stop myself from reading. :)

With the amount of money he’s made, if Eben is single – then it’s not because he can’t get a girl. But yeah… I did wondere if Eben himself really is a ‘ladies man’ of it’s all part of the DD fiction. πŸ˜‰

Hey Oz,  Eben has created a clean, no fluf or distraction video squeeze page that draws the viewer in, around, and down to the freebie + newsletter opt-in form with a big red arrow.  He's got all the FTC requirements in place and he isn't selling anything at all…. yet.  I've no doubt that there's a sales page on the other side of the opt-in form that offers his DVD product.   I was compelled to opt-in but my wife and I are happily dating each other already πŸ˜‰

all educational content.  video and optin form on every page, link to product on every article.
promo videos on top right lends immediate credibility as he is talking in front of an "audience" if they are actually there, branding him as an expert.
I kinda thought the newsletter model was dead….

  10. John Reed says:

Hi Oz, I've seen a lot of Eben's Marketing videos – always neat, no clutter to distract from his message.
I see from this site that it too is very neat.  He has his brand – the "Double Your Dating" and his own persona. She's a lovely girl but she isn't clickable like his "Double Your Dating" – which brings you back to the Squeeze Page – no sight of "Home" on this web site.
He has chosen his keywords carefully and his secondaries appear in the Page Titles along with the Brand/Site name.
Apart from this I may be missing it, but I take the immediate message that we should have:
A short story to build trust
Why we are qualified to advise
What problem(s) we can solve for each site visitor
How they can get access to this solution – free of charge
And a strong Call To Act on that right NOW
The actual opt in is below the fold, but the message above the fold is so clear and unambiguous that I almost opted in myself (and I've been happily married for 44 years!).

    Hi OZ,
Eben uses the simplicity of sites like Google, Amazon, Ebay (clean, white uncluttered background) combined with CPA technique of big red arrow to direct the viewers to take action. In addition, the video plays immediately, without  you pressing any button, telling you what you will get when you opt-in. The graphic on the clean background also is compelling, especially as in addition highlights the key points in yellow for those not prone to video. All in all the combination of  simplicity, attractive graphic, highlight of key points in yellow and audio visual among other things make it irresistible.

I  think everyone above has mentioned the lesson to be learned – John Reed lays it out clearly above. Even if you don't "do videos" all of the pieces are there to read. I found the hyperbole a little much "I have never met a woman who didn't respond" … a little over the top for me. He knows his target audience intimately, relates to them on all of the issues he faced and offers an immediate solution.

(I'll have to see for myself if he figured out the newer technologies and people being smarter; he figured he'd look bad 'lying' about who he is?, don't know)…but way back when I DID check it out, the BIGGEST thing I noticed the almost NO ONE is doing (is he still) is he lets you download the book FREE and bills you in the future. That's got to be one of the best ways to sell ANYTHING online, hoping to get all those 'billed later' who don't cut off his billing process. THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO DO. HOW DOES ONE DO THAT CHEAPLY W/O EXPENSIVE SOFTWARE? ANYONE KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT?

Nice clean site, YouTube videos for SEO purposes, everything points to being an authority site.
So the money is in the backend – DVD, book and probably affiliate products.
Was tempted to opt-in, like many others above, but didn't. May do to find out what the next stage is.
Very subtle squeeze page. The "Home" page video complements the bullet points on the right hand side, above the fold, very well.

What wonderful comments are flooding Oz Land.
I noticed the DD colors–warm, passionate.
The original site had a different red in the headline.  It was clean but cold like fresh blood on a white carpet.
I also noticed the tail of the arrow guides viewers to scroll down to the opt-in form.  Eben has always avoiding leading with opt-in forms.  He wants emotional and sensory appeals to dominate.

This is a reply to Chris:
You're looking for a 'trial pay' option in your cart/processor.  Several solutions will work fine and are cheap.  The one I use is Digital Access Pass.  It does other things too of course, and for something less than $200 it's fantastic.  Works great though and the developers are ready-at-hand to help (and will even do custom work on it for a reasonable rate).
For this example you'd set the 'trial' or a 'first payment' at zero dollars and then set a one time 'renewal' or a 'second payment' for the amount of the product at whatever amount of days after the first 'charge' you wanted it to be that you ran the card for $$$.
PayPal also allow such an option; as does Authorize.net too (which, is the best darn gateway out there for the time being anyway).  PayPal and Authorize.net just 'handle' the PCI requirements needed too as part of their subscription fees.
    Cheers.

  26. Mike FD says:

The site is not "busy", in fact there is very little on the first page, but what is there is 100% relevant to the message. Because of the simplicity of the first page the video naturally attracts our attention and the content of the video is "polished" – both in presentation and method.
We are not being "sold" anything. The message fills a need, and people with that need will be attracted to what is on offer.

  27. Mike FD says:

Sorry one thing he does smoothly and briliantly and that is he "whets your whistle" he provides an appetiser.
It is a bit like a famous mathematician when talking about statistics he compared it to a bikini: "what it reveals is suggestive but what it hides is vital" – What Eban reveals is suggestive (free) but to get what is vital you need to front up with the cash. It is that thread between revealing and suggesting that is the clever part.
